Lilypie 3rd Birthday Ticker Lilypie 1st Birthday Ticker

Happy Half Birthday!

Wednesday, July 26, 2006
We are so blessed to have spent the past 6 months getting to know and love our beautiful little girl. Every day she is doing new things, it is so much fun. We took her to the doctor this week for her check-up (and a few shots) and she weighs 15 pounds and is 24.5 inches long. She is healthy and happy and such an incredible gift from the Lord. Here are a few pictures of what she has been up to lately...

Daddy wore me out, we play hard!

We can't see any teeth yet, but they are on their way. Adeline has figured out how to work the teething ring, and it seems to help a lot. Not to mention, it's really cute!

Adeline is rolling all over the place these days. As you can see, I make her a pallet on the floor (to protect the carpet!), and she always seems to find her way off of the blanket. Notice her smiling in the picture, as soon as she sees the camera, she gets so excited and grins from ear to ear!

Adeline found another corner to roll into. And again, smiling for the camera!

    Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Adeline and I made some cupcakes for Jeff's birthday and took them to the Tea House we have every Thursday night. Here they are blowing out the candle.

      Cutie

Just wanted to share a cute pic of Adeline. Do you think she likes having her picture taken?

        Mmm, mmm good!

Here are some pictures from Adeline's first meal of rice cereal. She loved it!!!

The initial reaction - not sure what to think??

It didn't take long and she was grabbing the bowl from us.

          Yummy!

"Give me that spoon, I'll do it myself!"

          Lovin' the thumb!!

Adeline has found her thumb! Well, she has known where it is for a while, but she didn't realize how much she loves it until now. This picture is pretty much what Adeline looks like all the time these days!

            Goodbye again...

Our dear friend, Callie is leaving tomorrow. There really isn't much to say except that it is hard to see her go.

              Down by the sea

This morning we went out to a place called Ortakoy which is right on the Bosphorus Strait. It is a great place to go, especially on the weekends when they have tables set up where vendors are selling jewelry, scarves, pictures, clothes, etc. It was nice family time, here are a few pictures.

Jeff and Little A looking out at the water.

The bridge behind us is one of the two bridges that connects Europe and Asia.

                Cok Tatli!!!

This is what Jeff had for lunch. It is called a Kumpir, and it is a huge baked potato loaded with all kinds of stuff - sosis (similar to hot dogs), corn, black and green olives, lentils, pickles, potato salad (which is sometimes called "American Salad" here, we aren't sure why though), ketchup, mayonaise and some sort of pink vegetable which we were unable to identify. Looks good, doesn't it?

This is the mosque right on the water in Ortakoy.

                4th of July

                Wednesday, July 05, 2006
We had our annual 4th of July party yesterday, it is something that we really look forward to all year. We all drive out of the city about an hour to a "country club" with a great pool and picnic area. Unfortunately, the weather was cool and windy, so we didn't get to swim, but we had a good time eating great food and visiting with friends. I didn't take many pictures, but I managed to get a few of Adeline in her stars and stripes!

Aunt Elizabeth took this picture, it is such a perfect snapshot of Adeline. She ALWAYS has a bib on and she loves scrunching up her little nose and smiling for you.

                  My favorite toys

                  Monday, July 03, 2006
My favorite toys these days are my feet. I love playing with them every chance I get. Here I am sitting all by myself (although tipping forward a little bit!) and holding my foot.

                    5 months

Look how much she has changed!
This is the difference between six
                      weeks and five months old.

                      "Bunu yedim!"

So, a lot of people, when they see Adeline, make comments like "I want to eat her up" or "Cok Tatli" which literally means 'very sweet'. Last weekend we went out to the University to Sports Fest, and visited with some friends there. As soon as we arrived, one of my friends Gulsah looked at Adeline, came up to me and as serious as she could be, said "Bunu Yedim!" This literally means "I ate it/her!" It was so cute, she couldn't get enough of Little A. Obviously, Adeline felt the same about her hand.

Adeline was definitely the center of attention at Sports Fest. We stood on the sidewalk near the basketball courts and so many people (most of whom we didn't know) would stop and talk to her, grab her hands, and even take pictures! There were times when we felt like she was on display a bit, but we love it when people love on her.

                        Moving on

Our dear friends, Amy and Jodi left us this weekend. Jodi is returning to the states and Amy is going to India to teach. We already miss them so much, but are excited about what the Lord has in store for them! We love you, Auntie A and Aunt Jodi!
