4 months

It seems like we just posted the 3 month picture yesterday... Adeline is doing well, gaining weight like crazy, getting longer by the minute and we are enjoying every minute!

One final trip to the mall

Our friends Rebecca and Scott moved to another city last week, so we had one final lunch at the mall together, babies and all. When we were pregnant, Elizabeth, Rebecca and I used to go in the morning and walk at the mall to get our exercise in. So, one final trip to the mall seemed fitting. From left to right, Landon, Adeline and Bailey.

Not in America - Part 1

We have been in Turkey long enough to not even notice some of the differences we experience here. However, every once in a while, we have a "Not in America" moment when we realize that some things are very different here. We will try to be more observant and share some of these moments with you... Here is Part 1.

Milk comes in a box here. It is not refrigerated until it is opened, and although it took some getting used to, it's actually kinda nice because we can stock up on it and it lasts for a long time! It doesn't taste exactly the same as American milk, but it's not too bad (a year and a half later we can say that). The other day I was opening a new box (it was a different brand than we usually buy) and poured it into a glass and the first thing I said was "This milk isn't the same color as the milk we usually buy." Jeff and I kinda laughed and commented to eachother that we would never say that in America, and if we did, we would never continue to drink the milk! It tasted fine, weird color and all!

        The Big Island

        Monday, May 22, 2006
We took a trip to the Big Island (Buyuk Ada in Turkish) yesterday. It took a taxi, 2 boat rides and a 45 minute walk to get to the picnic area on the island, but we had a good time once we arrived. We had church at the park, ate lunch and enjoyed some great fellowship with a lot of our friends. Here are a few pictures we took of little A on our journey.

Adeline hanging out on Daddy's lap on the boat ride.

I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a picture of Adeline's new kicks! Thanks, Grandma!!!

We love pink! Thanks to Aunt Kristi and Uncle Bryan for the cute dress, everyone commented on it!

We took a carriage ride down the hill instead of making the 45 minute trek again. It was a bumpy ride, but we made it to the boat safely.

Billy, Bailey and Elizabeth - the bumps put Bailey to sleep.

          Sleeping, Smiling and Sitting

Adeline fell asleep on our bed while I was vacuuming.

She loves to smile for the camera (most of the time).

"I love sitting up!" (or did she say "spitting up"?... well, I think she loves both quite a bit!)

            Lale (a.k.a. Tulip)

I went with Adeline and a few friends to a place called Emirghan a few weeks ago. There were thousands and thousands of tulips which had just bloomed and even better, wide, paved pathways where we could push the stroller! It was great to be amongst trees and flowers and it was even quiet. Here is my friend Mara, along with Adeline who wasn't very happy because the wind was blowing in her face.

                Boat Trip

                Friday, May 12, 2006
For those of you who are tired of looking at the dryer, here are some new pictures of Little A.

This was Adeline's first boat ride across the Bosphorus Strait which separates the European and Asian sides of Istanbul. She really did enjoy the ride even though she looks a little nervous in this picture!

We are standing in Asia looking out at the water and Europe.

Our boat trip took us to our friends' house for the evening. Adeline hopes to be just like these girls when she grows up - they are too sweet and a testimony to great parenting! Maggie, Molly and their friend enjoyed spending some playtime with Adeline.
