We took Adeline to the doctor for an 8-month check-up. She weighs 17.6 pounds and is 26 inches long (or short, in her case). Here we are with our doctor, Pinar, and her little boy who was visiting the office when we were there. Adeline isn't used to being around "big kids", so she just stared at him the entire time they were together.

Bailey enjoys chewing on feet, and they don't even have to be her own. Adeline doesn't seem to mind one bit.

If only "Touched by an Angel" were still on the air, Adeline would be perfect for the part!

Doesn't she look like such a big girl?

Adeline is trying out the teething biscuits that mommy made for her. They were a hit! Thanks, Aunt Rebecca, for the recipe.

    Don't Speak

I know this blog has become a photo album of Adeline, but we hope to share little snapshots of the culture we live in as well. There is a law in Turkey that says you cannot speak, in any way, against the country, it's leaders (past or present) or the government. Read this story about a Turkish author who learned first hand what not to say, in word or in print.

Just a cute picture at 7 1/2 months!

Adeline isn't crawling yet, but she gets her self in position. Here she wouldn't even look up at the camera, she was concentrating so hard on what to do next. Our friend Elizabeth says that she looks like she is stretching to go running!

Reading the book... not so much fun. Chewing on it... priceless.

We don't have a video camera that records sound, so Elizabeth was so nice and took a short video of Adeline talking. She is saying "ba-ba" a lot these days, which is the Turkish word for dad, so Jeff is pretty excited. She has no clue what she is saying, but we still enjoy it.

        City Life

A few weeks ago, we had a picnic in the park with some friends from our Tea House. It was a nice afternoon with some great friends and good food.

This is a Turkish school bus. Kids riding these buses are picked up and dropped off very close to their apartments. The streets are so narrow and steep, there is no way a big ole' yellow school bus could travel from neighborhood to neighborhood. But these minivans are perfect for fitting in some tight spots. (LP - this picture is for you!)

Yes, this ambulance has it's lights on, but no, there is no emergency. Ambulances and police cars often travel around with their lights on. When we first moved here, we couldn't help but think that we did something wrong when a police car pulled up behind us with it's blue light flashing. But, now it's just normal to see lights on... If someone really does something wrong, there are definitely sirens and megaphones to get your attention!

          7 months

Another month has come and gone. Here are a few pix from Adeline's seventh month.

            Peek-a-boo!

Our version of NASCAR... Adeline in her "pillow car".

We invested (a whole $20) in a new "walking toy" for Adeline. She still doesn't know what to do with her feet, but she loves smacking at the cheap, plastic toys!

            Busted!
